TECHNOLOGY ADDICTION - A MENACING TRAP

Let's imagine a day without having a phone in our hands, without scrolling our Instagram feed, no phone calls, no WhatsApp notifications, no teams notifications. It's even tough to imagine, right?

Technology is everywhere and it's not going away. Even the devices our batchmates are using right now to listen to all of us are technology-based. We can’t expect ourselves without it in this modern social world where everything around us is somewhat technical. Basically, technology refers to methods, systems, and devices that are the results of scientific knowledge being used for practical purposes. It was gradually invented by human beings like us so that we can manage resources like time and money and avoid much laborious work. It brought us numerous advantages such as: an increase in productivity, easier and better communicationand ofcourse, Remote Education. And above all, we even witnessed the vital role of technology in the current scenario of vaccine production.

But, we know that a knife can be used to save as well as kill. So, apart from the lead, unfortunately, with time, things turned down and it became an addiction for many of us. And obviously, you can't make omelet without breaking some eggs. right? And so, technology was followed by its ill effects as well.

Too much technology is making us a new type of addict, and this drowns us in an era of technology addiction. Standing right in the generation trapped in tech addiction, we are more into google than reading books and it sometimes results in a limitation in our knowledge. Dry and itchy eyes, back pain, frequent headaches, and excessive weight gain are among the common health problems caused by technology addictions.

You must have seen the modern-day toddlers who are habitual of watching TV or phone while having their meals. This results in improper development of their motor skills. Not only generation z kids, but even adults are found glued to electronic devices or chained to their chargers.

There’s one quote from TMKOC - 'Problem to h sab k saath, bus nazarie ki h baat'; there always exists some remedies, like:

1. Limit the use of TV, computers, mobiles, and other devices ensuring that the total amount of screen time per day doesn’t exceed the age-group recommendations.

2.  Also, you can offer yourself some ‘tech-free’ times and focus on some physical activities as well.

Addiction is a battle to be fought and won by self. Overcoming tech-addiction is a difficult task and so, it is advised to seek professional help for curing the situation. YES! It is easy to get influenced by any addiction, BUT! It requires a tough soul to deal with the inevitable situations of life.
